GameSpot April 18th
2002
Outstanding 2 page preview...provides
just enough details to entice you, but not so
revealing that you wont be blown away when the
game is released. I was amazed at what UBI suggests
that they are going to pull off with this game.
Realistically equipped counterterrorist will reveal
what they are carrying just by viewing them, including
grenades and some equipment. Primary weapons not
in use will be slung over the shoulder, and equipment
belts will indicate how many frags a member is
down to. New movements include going prone and
variable leaning controlled by the mouse. Also,
for the first time, your team wont just swing
the door open, but crack it open and peek in.
Couple this with all the weapons from the former
games with a host of new ones, and there will
be enough firepower to please anyone. The weather
effects and attention to detail is phenomenal.
This preview provides an excellent glimpse into
the game that will revolutionize this genre all
over again. |

IGN April 14th 2002
Two big pages and a media
page as IGN gets to interview one of the key developers
of the game. More talk about the new movements,
including a special crouch for snipers. Also,
more details on the prone position reveal that
it will only be possible if there is a enough
room (remember, this is Urban environment again).
Also the interview reveals still no jumping (which
will be okay for most) and no gun swapping (i.e.
dropping what you're carrying to pick up something
else). This preview indicates over 57 weapons
will be available. One of the most impressive
thing this article talks about is the friendly
AI. The AI will each cover a certain area with
the last man (tail end Charlie) covers the rear.
15 missions covering 12 areas. Reportedly the
modelled weapon view will not be included, but
a goggled view will be.
Excellent preview. |

CVG March
4th, 2002
This preview offers a
good summary of information todate, and mentions
the superb lean and peek motions as well as
the ability to open doors and windows partially,
with the scroll of a mouse wheel. Also talks
about the ability to handcuff the terrorist
that have surrendered, which is a totally new
concept. This site does indicate that a more
in-depth preview is scheduled for later this
week. Also has an option to leave comments.
