HOW TO MAKE MOTION SENSITIVE EXPLOSIVES FOR MAPS

Berzerk_Psyc0 (Superior Modding Tendancies) ICQ: 84463405

This Tutorial Requires Basic Map Making Knowledge

Step1 Selecting A Map And Making A New Mission

Open the UOeditor and choose a map you would like to make your mission on. Give your mission a name, a skybox, and setup base pairs and your spawn points.

Step2 Placing MSOs

Go to the MISSION OBJECT section. You’ll need to place a landmine (or any other explosive item) on the ground somewhere, I picked landmine.mso. Name it M1. Now place any other item you want for the switch, I will use videopanel.mso. Name it S1. In the TYPE dropdown box select "switch"

.

For the landmine leave the TYPE as "none". Hide the videopanel.mso in a wall somewhere so that it can not be accessed.

Step3 Making The Touchplate

Go to the TOUCHPLATE section. Make a new touchplate and name it MP1. In the check box section click PRESSURE TRIGGER, there should now be a check mark in the box.

Now in 3D mode with MP1 still selected double-click in the spot of your mine. A white box should appear.

This will be the area sensitive to motion. You can make the box wider, taller, shorter, or skinnier with the square tool selected and using the X, Y, Z buttons. Then you must drag the mouse for it to change shape.

Now at the bottom of the TOUCHPLATE section select "trigger objects". Scroll down the list, highlight S1, and select OK.

Step4 Setting Up Dependants

Now open the MISSION OBJECT section. Highlight the S1 in the Mission Objectives box. Now click on the "Edit Dependants".

Highlight M1 in the Mission Objectives section in the top left corner of the MISSION OBJECTIVES DEPENDANTS pop-up box. Click on "OK" after you do this

Step5 Tips

  • I recommend that if you use the landmines then you should flip/turn them upside-down so that they are not visible on the map. In play they will still appear on radar as green dots but this makes the player less suspecting.
  • You can use explosive barrels (50galdrum_bomb.mso) and it’s fun if you set these to the side of doors so when the player opens the door the barrel explodes.
  • Any MSO can be used as the switch for the explosive, you just need to make the TYPE setting of the mission object to "switch".
  • Have fun with this, motion sensitive explosives can cause lots of havoc and excitement in your maps.
