FIELD REPORT 0032.1.01 The difficulty with this mission lies in the layout of the defence area. The control panel is placed very close to two opposite doorways making it difficult to defend against a rush from opposite sides of the room. The other difficulty is with the speed of the opening onslaught by the Terrorists, which leaves no, if little, time for reloading a discharged weapon. Two separate factors therefore need careful consideration, choice of weapon, and defence strategy. Weapon Selection
The choice of primary is dictated by the speed and number of attackers. Fire fights are close quarter so long range accuracy is not required, but a large magazine that does not require valuable loading time is a must. The M249 Saw is a prime candidate with a huge 200 round magazine. Any other gun will leave you with an empty mag as the enemy storms in. Using the Saw is a skill however and care must be taken. With prolonged bursts of fire the weapons movement causes severe accuracy loss; short bursts and careful attention to the state of the reticule are required, otherwise you will find yourself either over run, or picked off from distance. Defence Strategy The strategy here is dictated by the layout; the starting point is small and open to attack from opposite sides of the room making it very difficult to defend. The initial tactic therefore is to maintain control of the starting point by careful observation of both doorways. The doors themselves provide useful delay tactics to the advancing enemy and should always be shut and never blown up around the control panel. The secondary tactic must be to cover the room from a vantage point that can observe access to both doorways. The final phase would be to seek and and destroy remaining terrorists. Initial Control Initially the closest tango is in the room on the left (the start facing position), this tango is half asleep and easily disposed of. Outside the door he stood by are two of his colleagues; if you leave them now - they will storm you while you repel the first assault from the right. Throw the door open and take both tango's out - possibly with your pistol. There may be an opportunity to fire on the enemy across on the opposite balcony. Quickly return to the control panel and repel the tangos now coming through the right hand door. This is where the saw comes into its own - you will use plenty of shells at this point.
Close this stage by running through the control room checking that both balconies are clear. Secondary Phase Now we must secure the control room from a better vantage point. Head for the left or right balcony and crouch in the doorway, from here you can cover both balconies.
If a tango appears on the opposite side quickly return to the control panel and shoot him through the door as he attempts to open it. Final Phase Now we have secured the area, the last tango's must be eliminated. Any advance from our stronghold would leave an opening, we must wait it out. It is possible that a full minute may pass - but you must remain vigilant for when the final one or two tango's appear they will be sharp; despatch them with your Saw, or if you have time - a grenade. Other Considerations The enemy is extremely determined - to the point of throwing grenades in even if his comrades are already in the room. You must be prepared to rush out of the room should a frag suddenly be thrown in - it is possible to outrun the blast. DOWNLOADS UO replays only playback through UO - not
