Rogue Spear Mods in
Covert Operations
Raymond Siu
AGR-S Introduction
Covert Operations took some early stick for
the lack of new maps. With only 3 big new maps some felt cheated
- perhaps not realising that the package was intended almost as
a retro-starter pack for new Rainbow Six gamers - a teaser for
the excellent Rogue Spear.
However COE owners
without Rogue Spear need not confine themselves
to the included maps as some Rogue Spear
mods can be run through COE quite easily.
That said, running mods in COE is not supported
and indeed is not an official option at
all. If you do not have Urban Operations
with its excellent mod system then you may
want to try some mods out on your copy of
COE, as detailed below. At the end of the
day though, you really should consider buying
Urban Operations!
Raymond Sui Sui explains the technique.
"I
have recently done some experimenting with
Covert Ops Essentials and many of the map
mods. I downloaded about 4 different mods
that were above 80% in rating and I installed
it in the mods directory.
The two directorys I used were
I used the data directory as a backup with
the original files in it and put the mod's files in the CO mods
directory so if something screws up I just paste the files in
data to the mods CO directory and all is restored.
You should use the data file in the Covert
Ops directory as a backup and use the Covert Ops directory in
the mods directory to make the changes. So I moved all the files
manually into their respective directories and ran Covert Ops.
You wouldn't believe the amount of mods that
work on Covert Ops. The mods I used were
-
Gravedigga's
Extreme
-
DTD
HK mod

My favourite mod is the DTD mod because
it adds 60 new HK weapons new
characters and new uniforms. Its just great!
So for all the people who have bought Covert
Ops recently and are thinking about getting a refund, think again
because there are so many mods for Rogue Spear and Urban Ops that
all work with Covert Ops."
