Interviews

Thomas Devries - Design

Thomas produced character and weapon designs for TSOF. In this interview he talks about how the game ties in with the movie, and his favourite aspects of the game. Here's a small excerpt from the Full Interview.

"Sum of all Fears is a game that takes place in the Rainbow Six Universe. It's more of a prequel to Rainbow Six, actually. The story line that takes place in the game is more of a companion to that of the book / movie."

Bill Brown - Soundtrack

If you've ever played a Red Storm game from the Clancy series, you've heard Bill Brown music. Bill has been producing music scores for the Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon series faithfully for years. Music4Games interviewed him recently, read that interview here and visit Bill Brown's TSOAF section here, where you can download some music.

Deke Waters - Producer

In this HomeLan Fed interview the producer of TSOAF talks in on many topics, including the background to the game.

"When we learned that Paramount was also releasing a movie based on the book and was interested in a licensed tie-in, it seemed like a golden opportunity to bring this more accessible take on the tactical shooter to a wider audience..."

Reviews

Music4Gamers

TSOAF gets another good review at Music4Gamers, where they awarded it 90%. They liked it so much the reviewer ran out of superlatives, finishing up by calling the game a "masterpiece".

IGN

IGN has reviewed TSOAF and like it. They like it alot, in fact, and awarded it 87%. Among other compliments, here's what they thought about a new command feature..

"One of the coolest additions to the game is the squad command feature (which introduces a few of the ideas to be implemented in Raven Shield). Now you can simply point your mouse at a door and command the other members of your squad to take a specific action. "

Elited

Scoring the game at 70% Elited also liked the new command options that IGN admired. They also refered to the ease with which gamers new to the genre can dive into the game...

"A great factor is that this game was made so that the general public could pick up on the game easily. The interface and gameplay are both easy to adapt to. The Sum of all Fears is a great game for the price."

GameSpy

No overall score at Gamespy, but they did emphasize TSOAF will suit the casual gamer, perhaps more than the seasoned gamer - which is probably what Ubi Soft were aiming for; here's what they said..

"But if you're looking to try out tactical shooters for the first time, The Sum of All Fears is a good place to start"

Viewz

The guys at Viewz did not offer a final score for TSOAF, but there is no doubt that they liked it...

"The game being offered is a great game, one of the best out there... a fun introductory course to one of the greatest game franchises of all time. .. still retains the tension and excitement of the original series. Anyone who's ever felt too shy to get involved in the Rogue Spear craze has no excuse now.

Zen Gamer

A comprehensive review from the team at Zen Gamer, arriving at a final score of 80% concluding...

"does everything with polish, and with enough new enhancements and additions to make it well worth the low price."
Read the Zen Gamer 3 page review here.

Game Rankings

These guys rank alot of games, so when they score a game over 80% it's worth taking a closer look. Especially when they make comments like...

"Here's hoping that we see more of this in future tactical shooters."

Loaded Inc.

Scoring TSOAF at 80%, Loaded also complimented Red Storm for making a game that film buffs could enjoy as well as the Rainbow six veterans. They also explain the neat multiplayer game types that TSOAF offers.

"The Sum of All Fears is a streamlined tactical shooter that succeeds in providing a short learning curve so players can get into the action as quickly as possible"
Read Loaded's 1 page review here.
